GM & Director
Dean, the founding member of Skilled Electrical, is pretty passionate about the electrical industry and business in general. “I have for a longtime been interested in business and its impact on the people that come into contact with it.”
“This company means more to me than just an income stream, its about seeing a collective bunch of people come together to make good things happen, (sounds a bit airy fairy, I know), but that is genuinely what drives me. We spend almost half of our waking lives working in a business, so to me it better be an enriching, fun and worthwhile experience for everyone who is part of it.”
“That goes for our staff, clients, suppliers, sub-contractors, our service providers etc.”
“My goal is to have a bit of fun while we look to continually improve personally and professionally, and we ultimately create something that we can be proud of.”
Outside of the business Dean has 3 teenaged children and his beautiful wife of 20 years, Kylie.
He enjoys a bit of surfing (reasonably badly); the gym (in the smoko room at the office); Brazilian jujitsu, of which he intends to make a comeback in soon….; travel when he can get the chance; a few well-deserved beers, when offered; watching mixed martial arts, reading and a bit of gaming to zone out for a while when time allows.
IT & Systems Manager
Rob is an integral part of the team, he is the attention to details man that compliments Dean’s, “Lets take over the world” type of approach.
Rob’s role has evolved to IT & systems development as a result of his initiative and desire to make the company work more efficiently and effectively behind the scenes.
He is a real family man who lives with his wife and 2 boys in Kaiapoi.
Commercial Project Manager
Lee has the challenging task of managing the various larger projects on the books. He’s a likable little Irishman that can sooth any situation with his calm and composed manner, (along with his attractive Irish Accent). He spends much of his time in Methven with his partner Kate, (we hear marriage is on the cards…you didn’t hear it from us though), and with a snow board strapped to his feet.
Lee’s one of our original employees and always delivers the results on the ground, which is obviously the most vital aspect of what we do.
Barry is an incredibly new employee, but a vital one. His past experience with a very large and established contractor in Christchurch will be invaluable to us at Skilled Electrical. His job is to ensure the back office systems and processes are working, consistent and in place.
He lives with his partner has 2 children and he has a real passion for acting and showbusiness. Welcome aboard Barry!
Brad is a wee bit awesome, he manages our servicing and the bulk of our residential projects. His forte is in the high-end residential field. He’s a very hard man to fluster, (we know because we have tried).
He enjoys a good game of cricket, spending time with his partner and he plays the guitar and sings like an angel.
Estimator & Solar Specialist
Johann is our South African, he is full of positivity and determined to expand and grow the alternative energy side of the company as he sees that as the future of the industry.
He also has the pivotal role now of being one of our key electrical estimators which he has immersed himself in to learn the ropes.
In johann's spare time he likes to spend time with his family, cycling, eating and drinking (like most South Africans we know).
Senior Sparky & Site Foreman
Todd, our go to for hands on managing our bigger projects. Always reliable, consistent and has a practical approach to whatever is going on onsite. “An easy tradie to deal with”, sums up Todd. Sometimes looks like he’s just come out of the bush, but don’t let that fool you, he does the bizo.
Todd lives on the out skirts of Christchurch with his partner on a bit of land, likes hunting, fishing and growing his fine beard.
Another Irishman in the group, Niall has a great way with people. He site manages our longest running project at the Alpine View Lifestyle Village of which has been going for the last 3 years. He has an eye for good quality work and ensures that any staff on site are doing the job to the expected high standards.
In his spare time he enjoys his football, (he’s pretty good too), and coaching, and seems to fit into the mold of the stereotypical Irishman where he enjoys a bit of socializing and mischief.
