Fire at an engineering lab at the University of Canterbury is said to be caused by an electrical fault. Five crews and a command unit truck were called to the university in Ilam, Christchurch at 10.50am, said Lyn Crosson, spokesperson for Fire and Emergency New Zealand. The fire was contained in 30 minutes, by about 10.50am and extinguished about 11.45am and the crew had left by 3pm, said Crosson.
