Our Electrical Projects

A full industrial electrical fit out at Elite Polymers new factory out in Rolleston. The original mains supply didn’t meet their needs, so we delivered an upgraded system. This involved working with civil agencies, power providers and electrical suppliers. Part of this involved obtaining a whopping mains cable. Our electricians were able to manage and design the project, delivering premium solutions. The result? A sleek, premium fit out that met all client requirements and deadlines.  

Alpine View Retirement Village is an up-market lifestyle village for the over 55s in Christchurch. This is our largest completed project – containing 250 villas, a central lodge complex with 40 apartments, an indoor pool, a restaurant, bar, library, hairdressers and a movie theatre – just to name a few.

The building programme we worked alongside completed two villas a week on average, so we systemised our wiring process to be as efficient as possible in order to meet the tight budget and time constraints.

We worked closely with the Village owners to help map, design and install the extensive landscape lighting, which plays a significant part in creating the right feel and ambience to the complex.

A unique build with largely recycled building and electrical fixtures. We were on this occasion required to work very closely with the client. Flexibility and adaptability were key to making this project work. Many of the recycled light fittings had to be custom adapted to meet the clients desires and to meet the current electrical standards.

​A very labour intensive project, but very rewarding with the finished project a bit of an icon.

Skilled Electrical has been called upon as a subcontractor for electrical projects at various prominent heavy industrial sites such as Synlait, Westland Dairy, Edendale Dairy Factory,  Fonterra Darfield, Electrical HVAC and controls for the Christchurch Hospital, just to name a few more recent projects.

Our reliability, quality of workmanship and work ethic has made us a preferred subcontractor to some of the main contractors on these types of projects throughout the South Island.

Jucy Car Rentals was a project where Skilled Electrical was called upon to do a complete design and build for the lighting and electrical, data/comms, CCTV and HVAC, (Heating and Ventilation).

This project was just recently completed and was a great demonstration of the companies diversity and ability to perform in many sectors of the electrical industry from the design phase right through to completion.

A total factory move which required us to work very closely and directly with the client on this insurance job. This project presented several challenges where we had to help largely design and build the electrical control and layout of the plant.

We were required to quickly and efficiently change the plant over to the new location during the limited shutdown period. We were then required to work closely with the processing staff to test, fine-tune and commission each processing station.

A landmark building in the Merivale/Papanui region, the design cleverly integrates a church, chapel, hall and office facilities. A key feature of this modern Warren and Mahoney design is the unique light-filled conical chapel at the entrance.

This opaque structure houses the magnificent reclaimed stained glass windows. As well as the Chapel, it includes a worship space, large hall, fully equipped kitchen, a smaller hall and a meeting room.
